Bills fall to Saints, 27-7

The Buffalo Bills kept things close early but couldn’t take advantange, falling to the New Orleans Saints, 27-7.

The defense did a nice job of holding down the Saints’ prolific offense, allowing just 10 first half points.

It was a terrible day for Buffalo’s offense, which had been fairly impressive through the first two weeks.

Wide receiver Terrell Owens failed to catch a single pass, which is sure to cause some issues in the locker room.

At 1-2, the time is now for the Bills to start winning some football games.

Bills offense MIA in loss to Saints

The Buffalo Bills did an admirable job defensively against the offensive juggernaut that is the New Orleans Saints, but the offense didn’t show up in a 27-7 loss.

The Bills’ offense failed to score a single point, with the only touchdown coming off a fake field goal pass by punter Brian Moorman. Trent Edwards only threw for 156 yards and an interception, and Terrell Owens’ 185-game streak of games with a catch came to an end.

The defense frustrated the previously unstoppable Drew Brees, who finished the game 16 of 29 for 172 yards and no touchdowns. But the Saints’ running game picked up the slack, rushing for over 200 yards and three touchdowns. Pierre Thomas led the way with 126 yards and two scores.

Buffalo was within striking distance late, trailing 10-7 entering the final period, but a sputtering offense that couldn’t allow the defense to rest ultimately did the Bills in as they fell to 1-2.

Bills Sign Rookie RT Meredith

The Buffalo Bills have plucked rookie tackle Jamon Meredith off Green Bay’s practice squad in an attempt to give them some extra beef on their offensive line.

The Packers drafted Meredith in the fifth round this year, but he failed to make Green Bay’s roster. The Bills signed him on Tuesday to fill the roster spot of starting right tackle Brad Butler, who sustained a season-ending right knee injury on Sunday during the Bills’ 33-20 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Meredith is a 6’5”, 304 lbs tackle who started 29 games at South Carolina.

The Bills also did some creative work with their practice squad, releasing linebacker Alvin Bowen and signing rookie linebacker Marcus Freeman, who Chicago drafted in the fifth round this year.

Bills roll past Bucs, 33-20

The Buffalo Bills found a way to rebound from Monday night’s disappointing loss with a 33-20 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

With their scoring output the first two weeks, it seems the change at offensive coordinator was certainly warranted.

Quarterback Trent Edwards had another solid effort, tossing two touchdown passes and throwing for 230 yards.

Running back Fred Jackson is making his case for more action when Marshawn Lynch returns from his suspension after need week.

Bills fumble away game, 25-24

The Buffalo Bills came into New England simply as the unfortunate victim in Tom Brady’s first game back with the Patriots.

However, the Bills decided they weren’t going to play that role, instead running out to a 24-13 lead with just over five minutes to play.

Up five with just over two minutes to play, it looked like the Bills were in a terrific position to pull the upset.

However, a fumble on the kickoff return was recovered by the Patriots, and the shell-shocked Bills then gave up the game winning touchdown a little more than a minute later.

Buffalo was unable to get into field position with the time remaining, and the disappointing loss was sealed up.

Bills release Walker

The Buffalo Bills have released left tackle Langston Walker, just the latest in a number of big shakeups by the team.

Walker was the team’s starting left tackle, considered one of the most important positions in the league.

The Bills had enough problems as it was on the offensive line last season, so it’s hard to believe this will help matters.

They are dealing with plenty of turmoil at the moment, having already fired their offensive coordinator just days before the regular season opener.

They also cut veteran running back Dominic Rhodes.

Owens says toe feels great

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens said that his injured toe is feeling great and he is looking forward to the start of the season.

Owens has missed the team’s past two preseason games, although that might have been a good thing for team chemistry.

I think Owens may have completely lost it with the way quarterback Trent Edwards is throwing the ball, especially after their shutout against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Owens is expected to practice with the team sometime this week, but it remains to be seen whether he will see any time in their preseason finale.
