The pesky Buffalo Bills won their second straight game in a 20-9 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
It was an incredibly disappointing loss for the Panthers, who thought they were on their way back to the .500 mark and playoff contention.
Buffalo’s stingy pass defense ran into the perfect quarterback in Jake Delhomme, who tossed three interceptions.
The Bills made the turnovers count, as running back Marshawn Lynch and wide receiver Lee Evans both found the end zone.
Buffalo is slowly creeping their way back into the playoff conversation, but a couple more wins would do wonders for their chances.

The Buffalo Bills are giving Trent Edwards a little more time to heal.
Coach Dick Jauron announced that the Bills would be sticking with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (out of Harvard) at the starting quarterback position, as Edwards continues to recover from a concussion that he sustained two weeks ago against the Jets.
Fitzpatrick guided the Bills to their second straight victory, this a 20-9 tilt over the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers outgained the Bills statistically in virtually every category, yet the Bills managed to dig down and find a way to win.
Fitzpatrick first saw action last week when Edwards went down, as he guided the Bills offense to 10 points to tie the game and send it to overtime, where Ryan Lindell knocked down a game-winning 46 yarder to beat the Jets.
Jauron avoided a question about whether Edwards would resume his position as starting QB when he was healthy enough to play. He said that Edwards was improving and that the Bills medical staff had cleared him to work out.

The Buffalo Bills were without starting quarterback Trent Edwards when they hosted the Carolina Panthers.
Edwards suffered a concussion in the team’s win to the New York Jets last week and did not return to the game.
Backup Ryan Fitzpatrick came on in relief of Edwards and performed well enough to lead a comeback victory.
The team has been mum on the status of Edwards other than to say they are monitoring the situation on a daily basis.
Edwards wasn’t playing particularly well anyway, so the team isn’t in a big rush to get him back on the field.

With Bills QB Trent Edwards sidelined by a concussion he suffered last week during the Bills’ 16-13 upset over the New York Jets, Jets fans turn their hopes to QB Ryan Fitzpatrick this week, as he will lead the way against the Carolina Panthers.
Edwards will be missing his first game of the season with the concussion, which knocked him out of the game against the Jets in the second quarter. Fitzpatrick filled in admirably, guiding the Bills to 10 straight points (after the Jets took a 13-3 lead), along with the game winning FG in overtime.
The Bills will likely lean on their running back tandem of Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson to take some of the pressure off their young QB.
Buffalo’s injury problems don’t end on the offensive side of the ball. The Bills will be missing both of their starting safeties – Donte Whitner (ankle) and Bryan Scott (ankle) – while defensive tackle Kyle Williams was listed as questionable. For a team facing an often erratic Jake Delhomme, the Bills will have to hope that their cornerbacks can handle the increased burden on them.
The Bills’ starting right tackle, Jonathan Scott (ankle), will also be on the sidelines on Sunday.

The Buffalo Bills rebounded from last weeks ugly loss with a 16-13 overtime victory over the New York Jets.
Buffalo had to play much of the game without starting quarterback Trent Edwards, who left with a concussion.
That left things up to backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was signed by the Bills in the offseason.
The quarterback had plenty of help from his defense, which intercepted rookie Mark Sanchez five times.
The team also dodged a bullet when a poor snap didn’t allow the Jets to attempt a game-winning field goal at the end of regulation.

The Buffalo Bills shocked the New York Jets on Sunday with a 16-13 overtime victory that puts the New England Patriots in sole possession of first place in the AFC East.
Buffalo kicker Ryan Lindell kicked the 47-yard game winner in overtime after hooking the 46-yard potential game winner at the end of regulation.
“I told them, ‘Let’s get inside the 30 and hammer away,’” Lindell said. “I’ve got to make that.”
With QB Trent Edwards knocked out with a concussion, backup Ryan Fitzpatrick came in and led the offense admirably, going 10 of 25 for 112 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
“If Trent ends up being out, I’ll get some more time with those guys,” Fitzpatrick said. “I love playing the game. It was a lot of fun being out there.”
“That sure was a great win for our football team,” coach Dick Jauron said. “We certainly needed it. I can’t say enough about that group of guys. They won’t quit, no matter what happens.”
With the win, the Bills now move to 2-4 on the season. With the Dolphins (2-3) on a bye this week, the Patriots hold first in the AFC East at 4-2, and the Jets drop to 3-3 on the season with this loss. Long story short: the AFC East race is long from over.

The case of the missing Thurman Thomas statue has been solved.
A Canadian man rescued the 8 ½ foot statue from fans who were trying to burn it. The Buffalo News reported that the statue has signs of charring around its feet.
The man loaded the statue into his truck after other tailgaters had poured charcoal embers from their grill onto the wooden piece. The Canadian man drove the statue into Canada – even listing the statue at customs as “a statue of Thurman Thomas” – and planned to return it during the Bills’ next home game on Nov. 1.
“I thought losing my helmet got a lot of attention,” said Thomas, alluding to him missing the first two plays of Super Bowl XXVI in 1992, according to The Buffalo News. “This probably got even more.”
Regarding the vandals: “You figure their beer is stronger than ours,” he joked, according to The Buffalo News.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but Terrell Owens is in the national spotlight.
The Buffalo Bills’ wide receiver was viewed as the one to turn around the fortunes of the Bills when he signed with the team this offseason. After losses in four of their first five games, the Bills are reeling.
And now, the national media has jumped at the chance to put Owens and his team in the spotlight — albeit not in a glowing light. With the NFL trade deadline coming up next week, there are plenty of rumors that the T.O. Show will be leaving western New York in the days to come, Chicago being the favorite target in the rumor mill.
Owens told local media Wednesday he’s committed to Buffalo, taking responsibility for the team’s slow start. Of course, we’re talking about Terrell Owens here, so stay tuned.

Things got about as bad as they can get in the Buffalo Bills unbelievable, 6-3 loss at home to the woeful Cleveland Browns.
The game was so bad that the Bills lost to a team whose quarterback was just 2-17 for 23 yards. Unbelievable.
Offensively, the Bills were pretty miserable themselves. Marshawn Lynch had a decent day but Fred Jackson was shut down.
The passing game was also non-existent, as Terrell Owens and Lee Evans continue to be non-factors.
Head coach Dick Jauron’s days in Buffalo must be numbered now.

The Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns may have set football back 50 years with the performance they turned in during their game on Sunday.
Unfortunately, this game did have to have a winner. And somehow, the Browns emerged with a 6-3 victory over the Bills, despite their QB turning in the worst QB performance ever for a winning quarterback in the NFL.
Yes, it’s gotten that bad for the Bills. Browns QB Derek Anderson finished 2 of 17 for 23 yards and an interception… and his team won.
After starting the season with a promising first two weeks, Bills QB Trent Edwards has reverted to the king of check-down throws, leaving the Bills’ offense completely stagnant. Even with the two headed monster of Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson, the Bills struggled to muster over 100 yards on the ground.
WR Terrell Owens caught four balls for 44 yards; Lynch was the most productive member of the passing game, catching five balls for 56 yards.
The Bills drop to 1-4 on the season, and needless to say, this can’t be the situation Owens imagined when he came to Buffalo in free agency during the offseason.
