Bills not making a play for free agent wideouts

The Buffalo Bills will not try and replace veteran wide receiver Terrell Owens by scouring the free agent market.

Instead, Buffalo seems determined to use players already on their roster to fill Owen’s former starting spot.

The team also is going to let unrestricted free agent Josh Reed take a walk after a disappointing stint.

Lee Evans has the No. 1 wideout spot on lockdown, but the opposite side of the field is wide open.

James Hardy is considered the leading candidate, but Steve Johnson could also factor into the decision.

Edwards signs will Bills

Free agent defensive end Dwan Edwards has signed a four-year contract worth up to $18 million with the Buffalo Bills.

Edwards was drawn to the Bills because he believes they have a lot of talented players and doesn’t think they will be in the rebuilding process for very long.

He said he was looking for a place that wanted him and found that in Buffalo, and he also liked how he would receive a lot of playing time and where he would fit in with their 3-4 scheme.

The defensive end believes he was somewhat limited in opportunities early in his career which stunted his development, but believes he is now starting to play his best football.

He credited the Ravens with a lot of his success, saying it helped a lot to play alongside such great defensive players and to learn from the best.

Bills will not offer Owens a contract

The Buffalo Bills will not offer veteran wide receiver Terrell Owens a contract, making him a free agent.

The Bills had signed Owens to a one-year contract last offseason, and the results were mixed.

Buffalo said they wanted to make it clear to Owens he would not be back so he can start looking for another team.

Owens stayed out of trouble for the most part with the Bills despite very shaky play at the quarterback position.

He started to play better late in the season, but was a non-factor for most of the year.
