Schobel spent much of the offseason trying to decide whether or not he wanted to walk away from the game.

He later said that he was interested in coming back but that he was waiting to see if the Bills wanted him.

The Bills then responded by saying that they did want him back but hadn’t heard him say he wanted to return, creating a lot of confusion.

The defensive end said he plans to make his final decision by mid August when his kids return to school.

The 33-year old believes the coaching staff is ready to move on without him, and he is fine with that.

Schobel added that he would consider coming back for another season if approached by the coaching staff.

He said he understands that with a new staff in place, they are going to change things up a bit.

The Bills claim they have spoken with his agent and made it clear that they would love to have him back.

Mitchell feels like he is well ahead of schedule since he wasn’t expected to make it back until training camp.

The linebacker certainly has his work cut out for him over the next couple of months in a number of ways.

Bouncing back with his surgically repaired knee certainly won’t be a picnic, and he also has to impress a new coaching staff.

The new coaching staff is bringing with them a switch to the 3-4 defense, forcing Mitchell to learn everything anew.

The Seattle Seahawks have an opening at running back after releasing veteran LenDale White.

White was the team’s only sizeable running back, the only player who could carry the ball 20 times a game on a consistent basis.

Julius Jones was expected to handle that roll, but he has been a major disappointment the past few years.

The Seahawks could trade for Lynch and send back someone like troubled linebacker Leroy Hill to help out Buffalo’s defense.

Lynch is set to rebounds from on-the-field and off-the-field issues to be one of the league’s top running backs.

He was put on notice when the team drafted running back C.J. Spiller high in the first round, fueling trade speculation.

Lynch knows he has been inconsistent and somewhat of a disappoint in his short career, but he is ready to make up for lost time.

He said he has never been a quitter and that he has paid the price for his actions and is ready to move on with his life.

The former Indianapolis Colt will join what has become a very crowded backfield situation.

The team is likely to go with Fred Jackson as the starter with first round draft pick C.J. Spiller seeing significant carries.

Then there is Marshawn Lynch, who the team still hopes to deal but has found little interest so far.

Buffalo is hopeful that a running back goes down in training camp for another team, giving them a chance to move Lynch.

Trent Edwards started most games for the Bills last year and was considered the quarterback of the future but has not panned out as hoped.

New head coach Chan Gailey expects quite a battle for the starting job to play out over the next few months between Brohm, Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick was the backup to Edwards last year and did start several games, but is not much of a playmaker down the field with the football.

Brohm said it was mandatory that he showed up for the voluntary minicamps if he wants to get better and show he deserves a crack at the starting job.

However, neither team was so interested as to propose a trade to the Ravens for Gaither, a top left tackle.

It’s rare that left tackles are available and so many teams always have a need for them, making Gaither very enticing.

The Ravens were said to be asking for a second round draft pick but might have accepted a third round choice.

The only way to pry Gaither away from the Ravens now probably is to trade them a player, preferably a solid cornerback.

The Bills have made it clear that he is available for a second-round pick. Whether someone will bite remains to be seen.

Lynch missed time last year after being suspended for four games by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Once he returned to the lineup, Lynch had to fight a time-share with Fred Jackson and never saw a lot of playing time.

The team has grown tired of Lynch’s attitude and appear ready to draft a replacement or name Jackson the starter.

It was just a few years ago when then starting running back Willis McGahee trashed the city for how boring it is and said he wanted to play somewhere else.

Lynch had made it known in the locker room that he would gladly accept a trade to another team.

The Bills aren’t exactly fond of Lynch given his penchant for getting into trouble off of the football field.

I always thought it was strange that they didn’t like McGahee very much, yet went ahead and drafted a near clone in Lynch.
